Call Signs

I have had the following call signs over the years.

VE8YE  Frobisher Bay NWT 1970-1972

The station was a lightly used Collins KWM-2 with VFO console. During my time with Bell Canada I worked in a number of Inuit and Cree villages.  Unfortunately my logs are missing from that period.

VE4RSL then VE4LR  Brandon MB  2005 – 2007

The Collins was put back on the air until it decided to self destruct.  I should not complain, I bought it at the factory when I was in Toronto working at Collins.  From 1965 till 2012 is not a bad life for anything.

VE6VS Red Deer AB  2012 – 2013

I had a borrowed TS430 with a limited range tuner but managed to work quite a bit of digital.  It helped to have two big pine trees front and back in the mobile home park.

VE6VS/VE4 & VE5SR Pelly SK 2014 to present

The initial rig was the FT-897D feeding a 135′ OCF strung up between two very tall pine trees at our first house. I have the antenna strung between a small tower to a tree in the back yard.  Not bad but the tuner will not handle some of the CFARS channels.

I also operated portable from Fairfax Virginia for several winter months over two years as VE5SR/W4
